  • Obituary: Arlene Hazel (Hudson) Simons, 86, of Auburn died Sunday July 20, 2014 at Clover Health Care following a long illness. She was born on January 12, 1928 in Dover-Foxcroft to T. Edgar Hudson and Myrtle E. (McCabe) Hudson. She was educated in schools in Dover-Foxcroft and Patton and graduated from Edward Little High School Auburn Maine in graduating class of 1946. Following graduation, Arlene was soon employed at Auburn Savings Bank in various positions from 1946 to 1979. In 1979 she moved to Trafton & Matzen Attorneys until 1982 when she married Allen Simons. On July 31, 1982 Arlene and Allen Simons were married at Court Street Baptist Church Auburn, Maine. They enjoyed travelling, theater and music. She especially enjoyed assisting Allen with ELHS music programs. Arlene was an active member of Court Street Baptist Church since she joined on May 7, 1944. She participated in many Church offices including Church Treasurer from May 1949 to December 2009; Church Finance Committee, church choir (56 years) and choir Librarian (52 years); other church committees. She was also actively involved in the Liberty Rebekah Lodge #94 Auburn, Maine Joined June 4, 1946; Past Noble Grand, Treasurer and other offices. Pine Cone Chapter #26 OES, Auburn, Maine: joined May 12, 1949; became life member 1999. During employment at the bank she was active in the Maine Association of Savings Bank Women serving as President 1968-1969. She served as Secretary-Treasurer for class of 1946 Edward Little High School Reunion Committee Arlene is survived by cousins in Maine and Canada. Predeceased by husband, Allen T. Simons (2000) and brother Kenneth E. Hudson (March 2005) Her extended family sends a special thank you to Clover Health Care staff in the Living Center as well as the Rehabilitation Unit for their loving care throughout her six year stay. Also a special thanks you to the doctors and staff at the Androscoggin Kidney Center in Auburn for their compassion and care for the past six years.
