Van Hoesen, 69, of Palmyra, PA passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center. Born August 7, 1947 in Plainfield, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Walter and Jean (Ryder) Van Hoesen and was also preceded in death by a brother Joel Van Hoesen. Retired from Science Applications International Corporation, he was an Associate Professor at HACC for online courses, a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Campbelltown, PA and a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an accomplished Dramatic Tenor and Baritone, sang with Voices of the Valley, and formerly sang with Bach Society of Dayton. A Nantucket Basket weaver, he was active with Therapy Dogs International, and liked to travel and golf. Most importantly, he was a devoted and caring husband and father. Surviving are his wife Sharon E. (Knouse) Van Hoesen; children Nowell Van Hoesen (Christa), Aubre Van Hoesen and Lindsay Hoke; siblings Jan Van Hoesen (Karen), Pieter Van Hoesen (Nancy) and Kathryn Bredlau (Paul); seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 12, 2017 at his church, 2761 Horseshoe Pike, Campbelltown, PA, preceded by a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment, with military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
