Born in Devon on January 22, 1934 he was the son of the late Russell and Florence (Fraser) Dillman Bernie worked in the woods and saw mills at a young age and over the years he was employed with Latimer Construction, Satellite Equipment, Municipal Contracting, Department of Transportation before retiring in 1999 with Dexter Construction. Bernie was a man of few words who loved to trade vehicles. He also had a love for stray cats rescuing many over the years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing crib, baking pies, watching Red Skelton, old western movies and spending time with friends and family. He is survived by his children Kathy Dillman-Smith, LeRoy (Donna) Dillman and Brian McCulloch, grandchildren James (Emma) Smith, Nicole Dillman, Tyler (Courtney) Dillman, , Lori (Curtis) MacEwan and Jody McCulloch, nine great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, brother Clinton, numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Shirley (McCulloch) Dillman, daughter Linda Mae, infant son Lionel Russell, brothers Vincent, Oral, Sandy & Charlie, sisters Joyce Boutilier, Loretta and Cora. A service will be held Monday August 15th at 1:00pm at the Gays River United Church in Gays River; Reverend Natalie Buchanan Rutherford will be officiating. Due to Covid there will be no reception and masks are recommended in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local SPCA or charity of choice.
