Born and raised in Pugwash, she was a daughter of the late C. Gordon Bollong and Doris Oleta (Tuttle) Bollong. Mary Lou worked in Halifax with MT&T for a number of years before settling back in Pugwash, getting married and raising her children with much love and devotion. She had been active in her community both as a volunteer and member of the village commission. A devoted daughter, proud and caring mother, fierce protector, and occasional force to be reckoned with, she was not afraid to voice her opinion on the matters that were most important to her. Born with a natural green thumb, she loved to spend hours amongst the flowers, working in her beautiful gardens. She will be remembered for her aptitude for gardening, crocheting, sewing, flower arranging and of course, for her terrific home cooking. Predeceased only by her parents, she is survived by Hudson, her husband of nearly 39 years; their two sons, Matthew (Chelsey) and Bradley (Leigh Ann), all of Halifax; sister, Shirley (Jim) Cummings, Pugwash; brothers, Gary (Peggy) Bollong, Pugwash and Dan Bollong, Comox, B.C.; plus a large extended family of stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at The Magnolia who treated her with such care and compassion. A celebration of Mary Lou's life is planned to be held at a later date. Arrangements will be announced at a future time. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of choice, or, being the avid gardener she was, please consider planting a tree in her memory.
