  • Obituary: Mr. Shawn S. Mullen, age 53, of Dupont, Indiana entered this life on December 14, 1961 in Kalispell, Montana. He was the loving son of Patrick Mullen and Patricia Anderson Mullen. He was raised in Shelby and was a graduate of Shelby High School where he had wrestled and played junior varsity football. Shawn was united in marriage to Dawn R. Zimmerman. This happy union of 31 years was blessed with a son, Shawn Scott and two daughters, Brandi Dawn and Megan Joyce. Shawn served in the United States Army from December 29, 1980 and rose to the rate of private first class. He was honorably discharged on October 1, 1982 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was an over the road truck driver for the past 30 years with P.R. "Pat" Mullen Trucking. Shawn had also owned and operated a gas station, was a home builder, carpenter and had driven a truck at Indiana Kentucky Electric Power Plant. Shawn could do just about anything he set his mind and talents to do. Shawn was a devoted husband, loving dad, son, brother and grandpa. Shawn died on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at 8:05 p.m. at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Shawn will be missed by his loving wife of thirty one years, Dawn R. Zimmerman Mullen of Dupont, Indiana; his loving son, Shawn Scott Mullen of Dupont, Indiana; his loving daughters, Brandi Dawn Mullen of Dupont, Indiana, Megan Joyce Mullen of Dupont, Indiana; his granddaughter; his father, Patrick Mullen of Vancouver, Washington; his mother, Patricia Anderson Mullen of Kevin, Montana; his brothers, Michael Mullen of Tampa, Florida, Patrick Mullen of Shelby, Montana; his sister, Billie Jo Mills and her husband, Russ of Anchorage, Alaska; his father in law and mother in law, Larry and Shirley Zimmerman of Idaho; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Lester Anderson. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 1, 2015, at 1:00 p.m., by Shawn Scott Mullen and Megan Joyce Mullen at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, Indiana Friends may call Saturday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. A final salute will be conducted on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre with full military honors to follow at Dupont Cemetery by Fort Knox Ceremonial Unit and Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion.
