  • Occupation: Power Lineman
  • Obituary: Murray Malcolm Cook, beloved husband of Denise Cook and loving father to Laken, Teri and Robin, passed away in Taber on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the age of 46 years. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Earl Reid. Murray was a wonderful husband and father; the most important part of his life was his family. He had a strong passion for racing and everything that came with it. Murray raced at Bridge County Raceway for seventeen years. He always had the attitude of "rubbins racin" and always enjoyed a great race. He would even help his competitors to get their trucks out on the track and they returned the same favour. After having surgery in 2011, Murray could no longer wear his helmet of five point harness so he did the next best thing and pitted for his daughter Teri and had the time of his life. With Robin in the tower and Denise and Chance at the spectator's gate, it was a complete family experience. Murray was a power lineman and had a strong work ethic. Safety was his number one priority. He enjoyed teaching and giving pointers to his coworkers so the job could be the best it could be. He took the new guys under his wing as Jim Hill Sr. did with him twenty seven years earlier. Whenever there was no race, swim meets or hockey games planned during an upcoming weekend, it was time to get away and do some fishing/golfing, no matter what time of year it was, at the cabin at Lake Diefenbaker. Our family was so fortunate to have two family interests that we all did together (racing and fishing). Most families don't have even one. How blessed we are.
