  • Obituary: Mr. Edward J. Dumas, age 95, of Lynn, died peacefully in his home on Saturday surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia R. (Parsons) Dumas, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Peabody, Ed was the son of the late Joseph E. and Jane (Sheehan) Dumas. He was a resident of Lynn for most of his life. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and then enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps, proudly serving his country during World War II. Prior to his retirement in 1986, Ed worked for the G.E. Riverworks for over 17 years and then for Vernon Plastics in Haverhill. He was an avid Red Sox and Bruins fan and also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, landscaping, traveling, and above all, he loved spending time with his family. He leaves his children: Jane A. Gargano and her husband Garry of Lynn, Elaine M. LaRiviere and her husband Richard of Lynn and Stephen E. Dumas and his wife Evalee of Maryland. He was the brother to Pauline Depaolo of Peabody, Theresa Christiansen of New Jersey and Arlene Lobato of Michigan. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Thomas Ross and brother of the late John "Jack" Dumas, Raymond Dumas, William "Butch" Dumas and Anna Dumas. Ed's Funeral Service will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Thursday at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701 or to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
