  • Obituary: Cecil E. Jay passed away on Oct. 24, 2009, in Wilmington, N.C. He was 88. He was born in Rumford, Maine on Dec. 29, 1920, to Herbert and Blanche Jay. Cecil served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a turret gunner stationed in North Africa and Italy. He was an electrical engineer at General Electric for 35 years. He and Catherine were married for 62 years. Cec loved to attend the Veteran's Day programs at Sopris Elementary and to soak in the Hot Springs Pool. He was preceded in death by his son, Herbert. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; sons, George of Washington D.C., Bruce of Rhode Island, Howard (Mary) Jay of Glenwood Springs; seven grandchildren, Zack, Steve, Jonathan; Justin, Jocelyn; Jason Jessica.
