Obituary: Services for William Lane, 82, a self-employed test hole driller in the Globe area until he retired in 1955, will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale. Burial will be in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Lane, a native of Tennessee, came to Arizona in 1911 after three years of working for the Southern Pacific Railroad in California. He was employed as a test hole driller at Globe by the Phelps Dodge Corp. until 1930, when he went to work for himself.
Mr. Lanes was a member of the Scottish Rite, El Zaribah Shrine, Phoenix, White Mountain Masonic Lodge 3, Globe and Thunderbird Lodge 18, F&AM, Phoenix.
He died Friday at Phoenix General Hospital. His home was 11 W. Harwell.
Survivors include three brothers out of state and several nieces and nephews.
