  • Obituary: He was born in St. Louis, Mo. on June 2, 1865. He went west as a young man, and came to Globe from Silver City, NM in 1912. He married Miss Maude Carvil of Nova Scotia in 1892. During his long residence in Globe he engaged in the the transfer business for many years, retiring about five years before his death. For two years he attended the Pennsylvania Medical Academy. His middle name, "Shreve," is said to have been the name of an ancestor who founded the city of Shreveport, La. He died in the Gila County Hospital following an illness of a month. He was survived by his wife, Maude; three son, James S. of Phoenix, principal of the Phoenix Union High School, Walker R. of Oakland, Calif., and Shreve H. Jr. of Globe; two daughters, Mrs. Paul K. Barrington of Martinez, Calif, and Mrs. Frank Lenon of Denver; and eight grandchildren. Arizona Record Globe,AZ
