Parrish - formerly of Church Street, King's County and Kentville, passed away with her family by her side, on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, NS. Born in Kentville, she was the daughter of the late Perley and Prudence (Schofield) Daniels. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be fondly remembered for her generous nature, love of family and boundless energy. For her there was no greater joy than spending time with her much loved grandchildren. She also greatly enjoyed painting, crafts and traveling with her beloved husband, Ron. Being a very determined and resourceful woman, she operated a successful community grocery store for over 25 years in Church Street. Leona is survived by daughters, Joanne Smith, North Alton, NS; Heather McCormick (Phil Kent), Upper Granville, NS and grandsons, Dr. Ashley McCormick (Dr. Jennifer Cram), Annapolis Royal, NS and Inuvik, NT; Luke McCormick, Annapolis Royal and Ecuador; sister, Chloris Grigg (Don), Arizona as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Parrish; only granddaughter, Lee Anne Wilson; brothers, Jack, Arthur, Kenneth and son-in-law, Millard Smith. A very special thank-you is extended to the wonderful staff at Mountain Lea Lodge. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at White Family Funeral Home, Kentville with Reverend John McNally officiating. A reception will follow. Interment at a later date at Elm Grove Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to The Ross Creek Center for the Arts, Canning, NS or to a charity of one's choice.
