Notes

  • Obituary: Our Father, Robert "Bob" Murray, was reunited with our mother, Frances Clara Murray on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Dad was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on July 8, 1927 and raised in Moose Jaw. There he met the love of his life, our mother, Frances and these high school sweethearts were married in Moose Jaw in 1949. Dad graduated from the University of Saskatchewan as a civil engineer. His career building refineries took our family all over the globe resulting in many lasting friendships worldwide. They finally settled in Calgary in 1973. Dad was very outgoing and enjoyed engaging anyone in any discussion. He had an opinion on every topic and was happiest sharing his thoughts with others. If there was a speech to be delivered or a poem to be composed for all special occasions, Dad was your man. He was very civic minded and volunteered on his community association civics committee for many years lending his engineering expertise to such projects as the NW LRT. Dad loved playing golf, pool and cards and their home was the base from many social events. Jamming on his clarinet was another favourite past time. The house was always filled with music. Dad was very proud of his Scottish heritage and a true Murray of Atholl. Bob will be dearly missed by his three children, Richard (Lenice) Murray, Shauna Pratt and Carole (Jerry) Sapieha. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Valerie (Duyane) Kelly, Douglas Pratt, Ryan and Kelsey Sapieha; as well as his three great grand-children Castor, Logan and Alexander. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife of sixty years his very own "Anne of Green Gables" Frances Clara on May 8, 2010. Dad and Mom are now together on their final journey. A Celebration of Bob's life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. A Graveside Service to follow at Queens Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a charity of the donors choice would be appreciated. In living memory of Robert Murray, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: (403) 241-0044.
