Obituary: Hersey Vannah, 77, formerly of Wells, Maine, died Saturday at the Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M.
He was born in Wells, a son of Edwin and Ethel Hersey Vannah, and attended Wells schools.
During World War II, Mr. Vannah served in the Army Air Corps and was a prisoner of war in the Philippines.
He was a member of Ocean Lodge of Masons of Wells.
Mr. Vannah was a refinery worker and operator for Mobil Oil Company. He retired from Mobil several years ago and made his home in New Mexico. He was a member of the Roadrunners, a group of retirees from Mobil Oil.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Kennedy Vannah of Edgewood; two sons, Edwin I. of Edgewood and Nathan P. of Cold Springs, Colo.
Services were held today at the French Mortuary in New Mexico. Burial will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Wells. Arrangements are by Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells.
