Born in Debert Village, Nova Scotia where she was raised and educated . She attended normal school in Truro, Nova Scotia and in 1919 came west to attend normal school at Camrose, Alberta. Upon her graduation she moved to Medicine Hat to teach school and taught in Medicine Hat and Red Cliff prior to moving to teach at Manyberries an d Comrey, Alberta. She married Gray Chester in Medicine Hat on March 26th, 1925. They moved west of Fort Macleod to farm at Stowe, Alberta and in 1931 moved to the family farm south of Fort Macleod and resided their until retiring to Fort Macleod in 1972. She was a member of the Standoff's Women's Insitute and a member o f Trinity Unite d Church.
