  • Obituary: Chloe was the daughter of John and Hilda Dove Johnson. She married first Arthur G. Ibbitson at Chesterfield, Derbyshire England in 1943. She then married Morton James Carter in July 1973. The death occurred on Jan. 11, of Chloe Joy Carter at the Colchester Co. Hospital, following a car accident on Jan. 9. She was the daughter of the late John and Hilda (Dove) Johnson of England. She was 65 years of age on Nov. 26. Chloe is survived by her first husband Gerald Ibbitson of Williams Lake, B.C., one son John Ibbitson of Quesnel, B.C., two daughters Mary (Mrs. Robert Wright) Calgary, Alberta, Barbara (Mrs. Ronald Wright) Williams Lake, besides there are seven grandchildren, one sister Jinny Carrington and one brother John Johnson both of England. She was predeceased by her second husband Morton Carter on Jan. 9, 1974. Chloe came to Canada in the early forties, and has lived in different parts of N.S., as well as in B.C. The past four years she has resided at Wallace Station. Her funeral was held Monday, Jan. 14, at 2:30 P.M., from the St. Andrews' Anglican Church in Wallace, with Rev. Ellis officiating. Hymns sung were The Lord is My Shepherd and Unto the Hills with Mrs. D. Wolfe as organist. The pallbearers were: Carl Ibbitson, nephew, Charles Ibbitson, brother-in-law, Robie Gullon, Walter, Lloyd and Alvin Crawford all neighbours of the deceased. Interment was in the St. Andrews' Church yard in Wallace. There were many beautiful floral offerings, monetary gifts and cards of sympathy testifying to the high esteem in which she was held. Being of a cheerful nature and always ready to lend a helping hand, she will always be loved and remembered by her many friends. Mrs. Carter died Friday at Colchester Hospital, Truro, after a car accident Wednesday, Jan. 9th, which also claimed the life of her 72 year old husband. The two car accident occurred about seven miles from Pugwash.
