  • Obituary: Randolph Morris Estvold, 88, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, in Shelton, Washington. He was born on November 17, 1918 in Parshall, North Dakota to Emil and Julia (Erickson) Estvold. Randy served in the United States Navy Reserves during World War II and married Katherine Miller in Tacoma, Washington on April 10, 1943. He was a tugboat operator for the Foss Maritime Company from the 1930s to the 1940s; was employed with the Shelton Towing Company, owned by Frank and Betty Wolf, from 1949 to the late 1950s; owned the Shelton Towing Company from the 1960s to the 1970s; and also worked for the Simpson Timber Company from the 1960s to the 1970s, retiring in 1984. Randy was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Shelton and its men's group, the American Legion, and the Good Tramper Sam's RV Club for many years. He enjoyed boating, fishing, carpentry, traveling in his RV, and playing cards (he was an expert pinochle player), and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Randy is survived by his son, Wayne Estvold, and his wife, Pamela, of Shelton; two daughters, Janet Miller, of Shelton, and Holly Gonzales, and her husband, George, of Bonney Lake; one brother, Orville Estvold, of Tacoma; one half- brother, Donald Estvold, of Clackamas, Oregon; seven grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Estvold, in 1999; grandson, Andrew Miller, in 1999; brother, Ernest Estvold; sister, Joyce Branch Brandsma; and five stepbrothers, Spencer Estvold, and Orville, Vernon, Milton, and Ken Ness. A graveside service will be held at the Shelton Memorial Park on Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held on the same day at 2:30 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Shelton.
