She was the wife of the late Roy F. Custance. She was a longtime resident of Boxborough and the recipient of the Golden Fife Award. Mrs. Custance was an active citizen of the town in many capacities, including tax collector, a member of the Historical Commission, Council on Aging, and head of the local and state Grange. She was also involved with the United Church of Christ Congregational, acting as Sunday school superintendent for 13 years and serving as deacon for several years. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Zawislak and her husband, Ronald, of Lascassas, Tenn.; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Violet Costello of Waltham, and Irene Dillman of Lexington. She was the mother of the late B. Beverley Rosette. Funeral services will be held at a later date in Boxborough.
