  • Obituary: The Skagit Valley Herald, Mount Vernon, WA October 15, 2013 David William Chichester, firstborn son of Lillian and Milton Chichester, died suddenly at his home in Mount Vernon on October 9, 2013. David was born April 30, 1937 in Anacortes, Washington. He was 76 years old. David attended Mount Vernon High School. After a short time serving in the United States Air Force, he began work as a meat fabricator alongside his father Milton and brother Bob Chichester. He later worked for Schaake Pack in Ellensburg, Washington and Schenk Pack in Stanwood, Washington. After retiring from the Meat Cutter's Union, he began work as a long haul truck driver and most recently hauled corn for National Foods until his retirement. David married Dianne Lee in 1958 in Mount Vernon, Washington. Together they had three children, David, Dana and Dawn. In 1978, they adopted son Milton Chichester. David and Dianne were parents to more than 25 foster children including Randy Barnes who has remained a close family member. After Dianne's death in 1996, David met and married Ann Kast. After 11 years of marriage, they went their separate ways but remained close friends until his passing. Dave's favorite pastime was fishing the Skagit River. He made many friends along the shores of the river and wherever else he went. He loved his children and grandchildren and his most recent joy was the time he spent in September fishing in Ketchikan, Alaska with his grandson Colby. He was preceded in death by parents Lillian and Milton Chichester, brother Richard Chichester and wife Dianne Chichester. David is survived by his children David (Terri) Chichester, Dana (Jim) Finch, Dawn (Kurt) Imes, Milton Chichester and Randy (Julie) Barnes; grandchildren Cortney (Jake) Hardy, Lindsey and Kylie Dreadin, Colby (Krista) Finch, Adria and Christiane Finch, Bo Chichester, Abby (Michael) Hader, Shaina (Per) Eide and Micah Chichester; great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Cash, West, Kyla, Jaylie, Hadley, Peyton, Rylee and Cambria and brother Robert (Fawn) Chichester. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 17th at Center for Spiritual Living, 1508 N. 18th Street, Mount Vernon. Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.
