(Coulter) - It is with great sadness, we the family of Alice Cecilia (Coulter) Bonnyman announce her passing on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche. She was born in Millbrook (New Annan) on August 12, 1925 to Walter and Minnie (Aitchison) Coulter. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Roland, her sister, Myrna Jenkinson and brother, Ian Coulter. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Shirley (David MacLeod), Truro; Ross (Marlene), Tatamagouche; Eloise (Rob Bethune), Mineville; and Ivy (David Ernst), Yarmouth. Fondly remembered as "Sparky" by grandchildren, Alana MacLeod Reid (Scott Reid), Patricia (Jay MacPherson), Jeff and Kari Bonnyman, Amy (Pat Robichaud), Matthew Bethune (Lucette Bourdeau), Timothy Bethune (Haley Fletcher-Bethune) and Nicholas Bethune, Jonathan Ernst (Heidi Durkee), Sarah (Ryan Cushing), Jennifer (Josh O'Leary), Brittany (Jeremy Wyman). Great-grandchildren include, Jake and Colby MacPherson, Maxime and Élodie Bethune, Grace and Sam Bethune, Madelyn Ernst, Cameron, Julia and Wesley Cushing, Mya and Rylan O'Leary, Tori and Tyson Wyman and Stephanie MacDonald; Brother-in'96law, Gerald Jenkinson and many nieces and nephews. Alice's early years were spent in Attleboro, Mass., where she recalled many fond memories despite the great depression. Upon graduation from high school, she went to work for The Bank of Nova Scotia in Tatamagouche from where she retired in 1982. Because of her incredible math skills, she became treasurer of every group she belonged to. She continued doing her own taxes into her 90's. After she was married, she honed her baking skills as a cook for the lumber camps during the winter. Her pies were the best and became a family favourite for all the generations. She was also an accomplished seamstress making dresses for all us girls and later square-dancing outfits for herself and Rollie. She loved to dance and tried to teach us the hop polka without success. She received her lifetime membership pin from the UCW at St. Andrew's United Church, Truro. She was an avid reader, history buff, traveler and family historian. A private service only due to COVID-19 will be held at Coulter's Funeral Home on Tuesday January 26, 2021 with live streaming of the service starting at 12:55 p.m., and the recorded service will be uploaded to the funeral home website www.mmcfunerals.com approximately four hours after the service. Family flowers only. Memorial donations can be made to Sunny Brae Cemetery, Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche or a charity of choice.
