  • Obituary: B. Harris ''Boots'' LedBetter, 76, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002. Born in Portsmouth to the late Helen Goulding LedBetter and Lorenzo Dow LedBetter, he was a Peninsula resident since 1954. He served in World War II, owned and operated a music store in Newport News for 33 years before becoming the stated clerk of the Presbytery of Eastern Virginia and was very active in Denbigh Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Soux LedBetter; two daughters, Beth Martin of Newport News and Kathy Tester and her husband, Bill of Boone, N.C.; two grandsons, Will and Nate Martin; two granddaughters, Katie and Ginny Tester; and his brother, John Winslow LedBetter and his wife, Gwenda Ewell LedBetter of Asheville, N.C. The family will receive friends today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. The celebration of life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Denbigh Presbyterian Church, led by the Rev. Deborah Dail. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Denbigh Presbyterian Church, 302 Denbigh Blvd., Newport News, VA 23608 or the American Heart Association, P.O.
