  • Obituary: Mickey "Mick" Wayne Peppard, 61, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on May 12, 2015, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a courageous four year battle with a non-curable kidney disease. Mick was born June 3, 1953 at Camp Le Jeune, NC, where his father was in the US Marine Corp. He was baptized in the hospital shortly after birth. He was confirmed at age 14 in the Lutheran faith in Jacksonville, NC. His family moved to Grand Forks in 1969 after his father retired from the Marines. Mick graduated from Red River High School in 1971. He attended UND and graduated from Mayville State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He taught and coached basketball for 19 years (one at Palermo, ND and eighteen at Central Valley). He owned and operated Red River Decorators. He was also employed as a bus driver for UND and East Grand Forks Public Schools. He retired this past year due to ill health. Mick was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, singing in the choir and serving on many boards. Mick was the son of John & Jean (Schumacher) Peppard. He married Denise Hurd in June of 1973. Their son Michael John Peppard was born on Sept. 28, 1979. He married Kyle LeAnn (Eide) Cvancara in August of 2001. Left to mourn are his wife, Kyle; son, Michael (Danielle), 2 grandsons, Cristyen & Jonathon, and one granddaughter, Mikaela, all of Lansford, ND; mother, Jean Peppard of Grand Forks; step-daughter, Alexis Cvancara of Devils Lake, ND; father & mother-in-law, Robert & Joyce Eide of Yuma, AZ; brother-in-law, Wayne (Staycie) Eide and family, of Yuma, AZ; sister-in-law, Kim (Rusty) Skramstad and family of Fergus Falls, MN; niece, Olivia and nephews, Dustin & Nicolas; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mick was preceded in death by his father, John Lyle Peppard; 3 brothers, John Allen, Kerry Lane and John Lyle Jr.; sister, Anna Marie; grandparents, Melvin & Anna Schumacher and Ernest & Eva Peppard.
