Born March 17, 1917, in Falmouth, Hants Co., he was a son of the late William and Matilda (Patterson) Manning. Lewis ran the family farm in Falmouth until 1960, then moved to Halifax where he operated Barrowman Bros. Hardware Stores for over 10 years with his brother, Clarence. Lewis went on to work for Halifax Seed until his retirement in 1981, then moved back to Falmouth. Lewis is survived by his wife, the former Phyllis Potter; sons, Malcolm (Gail) and Walter (Debbie), both of Falmouth; daughter, Barbara (Fern) Gebeau, Edmonton, Alta.; stepsons, Ronald Potter, Yarmouth; Robert (Mary) Potter, Lower Sackville; Perry (Helena) Potter, Liverpool; stepdaughters, Sharon (Bill) Claridge, Lower Sackville; Susanne (Alan) McMahon, Wolfville; sister, Lena Sanford, Bedford; brother, Clyde (Jean) Manning, North Battleford, Sask.; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Irene (Alley) Manning; sisters, Alice McNeil and Florence in infancy; brother, Clarence. No visitation by request. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. Interment in Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Falmouth.
