Notes

  • Obituary: 1955. Tatamagouche, Jan. 19, - Early on Thursday morning, January 13, friends of this community and the surrounding districts were shocked to hear that Martin GLENN, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence GLENN, was a patient in the Red Cross Hospital suffering from a hemorrhage of the brain. Despite all that skilled hands could do for him he never regained consciousness and passed away about 3:35 o'clock on Friday afternoon, January 14. He was 15 years of age and was a favorite companion among the young and old, and was very fond of books, games, and sports and was of a mild but cheerful disposition. He is survived by his parents, one sister, Irma, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. GLENN and Mr. and Mrs. Martin COULTER, two aunts, Mrs. Geoffrey LAWRENCE, Dartmouth, and Mrs. Ethel PERKINS, two uncles, Logan COULTER, Bayhead and William GLENN, also several cousins. Several cadets, led by Wylie E. DILL followed in the funeral procession and occupied the front pews in Sharon United Church from where the largest and most impressive service was ever held. A short funeral service was held at his home on Sunday afternoon, January 16, at 2 o'clock followed by a service in Sharon United Church at 2:30 o'clock, which was conducted by Rev. H. Richmond STUART, who spoke very fittingly of the deceased, and words of consolation and comfort to the bereaved family. Favorite hymns led by the choir were sung "The Lord's My Shepherd" and "The Old Rugged Cross." "Sometime We'll Understand," was sung as a solo by Roland A. LANGILLE. The floral tributes were many and beautiful testifying the esteem in which Martin was held. Pallbearers were teachers of the Rural High School-Gordon P. HAYES, Fred Campbell, J.W. CAMERON, Stewart BURBINE, MacCara CAMERON, and Kline LANGILLE. Interment was at Sunnybrae Cemetery, French River, Colchester County
