McNary, 93, died April 17, 2004, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury, where she lived for the past seven years. She was born July 30, 1910, in Peterborough, N.H., the daughter of George and Alice Nelson Wilkins. Mrs. McNary was known as the "cookie lady" by many neighborhood children who were daily visitors to her home in Maple Manor in Vergennes. Survivors include her son, Robert McNary of Ferrisburgh; a brother, Howard Wilkins of Attleboro Falls, Mass.; and two granddaughters. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, John McNary, in 1986; a brother, Frank Wilkins; and a sister, Ruth Hopkins. The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brown-McClay Funeral Home. Burial will be at Shepardville Cemetery in Plainville, Mass.
