Notes

  • Obituary: Lois Elaine (Bingham) Christensen, 79, of East Granby, passed away on Monday (June 29, 2009) at Hartford Hospital. Beloved wife of 60 years of John E. Christensen, she was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Ernest Bingham and Gladys Daniels. Lois was a graduate of Weaver High School, National Honors Society member, she worked as an administrative assistant at Fuller Brush, Yankee Flyer, East Granby Junior and Senior High School, Hall High School, West Hartford, and retired from Cigna. Some of our favorite memories included Lois riding her horse, going with her friends to Riverside Raceway Park, and cheering her favorite driver on. She looked forward to her rambunctious Pinochle games with Donna and Tim and her endless Cribbage games with Chris. She enjoyed receiving the sick humor Hallmark cards from Kim, and jumping the waves in Bad Boys Toys in Long Island Sound with Stan, Kim and Dad. Lois enjoyed music and holidays, especially Christmas and the Fourth of July Firework parties. She excelled in square dancing and was an avid reader. She loved to travel and cherished her trip to Greece with her mother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and looked forward to her first great grandchild, Jacob Holland, due in July. Besides her husband, Lois leaves to mourn a son Stan Christensen and his wife Kim, a daughter Donna Holland and her husband Tim, grandchildren Jason Holland and his wife Kelly, Marc Holland and his fiancée Christine Caniglia, Matt Holland and Justin Holland, two brothers-in-law Donald Christensen and his wife Rosalie, and Robert Christensen, a cousin Annette Robinson and friends Dale Reed and Wally and Laura Baker. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother-in-law Richard Christensen and wife Annette. Her Funeral will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Windsor Locks.
