Carter, age 94, of Amherst, passed away at the Gables Nursing Home, on Sunday, March 25, 2007. Born in Earltown, NS, she was a daughter of the late William and Effie (Hayman) Ferguson. Kathryn was a member of Trinity United Church, Amherst, and the UCW. She will be sadly missed by her sons Keith (Carol), Mississauga, ON, Gerald (Norma), Leicester, Aubrey (Evelyn), East Leicester, Merrill, Bolton, ON, daughters Effie (Harold) Gilroy, Moncton, NB, Joyce Dean, Bolton, ON, 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, sisters, Dorothy Murphy, Tatamagouche, Irene Ferguson, Truro, Christine Townsend, Riverview, brothers Harold (Barb), Earltown, Henry, Tatamagouche. She was predeceased by her husband Burton A. Carter in 1956, sons Wayne and Donald, a daughter Florence, grandsons, Stanley and David Dixon, a great grandson Robert Gilroy, sisters Evelyn and Janet Thompson, Anne Harris and Frances Langille, brothers Alex and Donald. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (902-667-8777). Visiting hours will be held at the Furlong~Jones Chapel, 66 Church St, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, where the funeral will take place on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 2 pm, Rev.
