Parents Father: PATRIQUIN, Burton Mother: JOUDRIE, Mary Viola Birth Born on July 05, 1969 in Tatamagouche, Colchester Co., NS Death Died on March 18, 2022 in Tatamagouche, Colchester Co., NS Notes Occupation: Carpenter Obituary: It is with broken hearts and disbelief we announce the sudden passing of David Shaun Louis MacBurnie on March 18th, 2022, at his home at the age of 52. Born in Tatamagouche on July 5th, 1969, to the late Viola MacBurnie and the late Bert Patriquin, David was the youngest of eight siblings. Being the youngest meant they always looked out for him, and for that, he truly loved them. In his youth, David attended school at Tatamagouche Elementary and North Colchester High. He played minor hockey for several years, where he would make lifelong friends. Being a goalie was a position he enjoyed and excelled at. He loved all sports, especially hockey, and those who knew him would attest to him being a diehard Edmonton Oilers fan. He had a great affection for animals, especially cats and dogs. He had many pets over the years and, as of late, would be found spoiling those of his family and friends. Music was also a big part of David's life; whether it was listening to Burton Cummings (one of his favourites) or sitting around the kitchen table for the Saturday night hoedown, he loved a good time. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, biking, just being outside (unless it was too cold); spending the day with friends was when he was happiest. As a young man, David started working in carpentry. It was there he found his true talent and passion and worked over the years at various jobs, building and renovating homes. One of the best, his attention to detail was second to none; it seemed as though David could make anything from nothing, you could tell him your vision, and he would make it come to life. His family is forever grateful for all the work he has done for them over the years. Those closest to David know that despite the many challenges he faced throughout his life, he was a very kind and gentle soul. He cared deeply for his friends and family; losing his mother in 2018 was especially hard for him. David was a loving brother and took great pride in his role as Uncle Dave. He loved a good chat and would always end the conversation with a hug and a "love ya!" His infectious smile and youthful giggle will be dearly missed but not forgotten. David is survived and will be greatly missed by his sisters: Sadie (Hector) Tattrie, Tatamagouche, Marlene MacBurnie, Weymouth and Sandee (Brian) Park, Alberta. His brother and true friend Chris (Debbie Farrell) MacBurnie, Tatamagouche. His nieces and nephews: Janet Wall, Melissa (Robin) Underwood, Blake (Tammie) Wall, Leanne Mingo, Glen Tattrie, Charlene Tattrie, Jonathan (Lynn Sullivan) MacBurnie, Crystal (Eli Rankin)MacKenzie, Rachel MacBurnie. Great-nieces and nephews: Alex (Cedric Denis) Underwood, Delani Underwood, Emmitt Wall, Keean Wall, Grace Reynolds, Dylan (Lacey)Smith, Sebastian MacBurnie, Felicity MacBurnie and their mother Terry MacBurnie, Kayden MacBurnie. His Great-great niece Nora Denis. Many aunts, uncles and cousins. Also, the countless friendships, whether they were lifelong or not that long, you were truly loved if you were lucky enough to be loved by Dave. Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his sister Flora and brother-in-law Karl Wall, sister Jean and brother-in-law Leith Mingo, brother John in infancy, a nephew in infancy. A service is to be held at a later date. Donations in David's memory can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Tatamagouche, or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
