Ellis, 78, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2003 at the Concord Hospital in Concord. He was born in Morgan, VT, on July 8, 1925 the son of Wilbur C.J. and Orpha (Rowe) Ellis. He lived in Island Pond, VT, and moved to Gorham, where he lived for many years. He was employed by St. Johnsbury Trucking. After his retirement, he moved to Chichester, where he has since resided. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II where he served in the 10th Mountain Division Ski Troops. He served in the National Guard in Newport, VT, and then served in the Korean War. He was married in the Congregational Church in Island Pond, VT. He was a member of the VFW of Island Pond, the American Legion in Island Pond and a member of the I.O.O.F. and was treasurer of the Lodge of Gorham. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He was a devoted family man. Members of the family include his wife, June M. (Johnson) Ellis of Chichester; three sons, Arthur, Randy, and Richard, seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one brother, Charles; one sister Phyllis; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, at 1 p.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade Street, Gorham. Interment will be in the Mount Hayes Cemetery in Gorham. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chichester Rescue Squad, Main Street, Chichester, NH, 03258 in his memory.
