He was the son of the late Fraser and Adelaide (Geldart) Fisher. Donald was a member of the Canadian Army and Royal Canadian Legion. He worked many years for the Canadian National Railroad as a bridge builder. He enjoyed camping and watching television. Donald is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nellie May (Taylor); sisters, Elizabeth Henderson and Sylvia Barnhill, both of Truro, Carol (Ernest) Jakal, Calgary, AB; brothers, Albert, North River, Gerald (Marina), Masstown, Arthur (Vera), Debert, and John, Truro; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Shirley Dickson and brother Paul. No visitation by request. A graveside service and Royal Canadian Legion Tribute will be held in the spring at Bible Hill Cemetery.
