Notes

  • Obituary: Marie Pearl Barnhill Passed away peacefully at Parkstone Halifax on November 3, 2021 at the age of 100. Marie was born December 26, 1920 in Halifax. Daughter of Harold James and Susan Victoria Beazley. She is survived by son Sandy (Joan), daughter Barbara (Ches), sons David (Susan) and Dan (Melissa Mansfield), daughter in law Edith. Also survived by sisters Noreen Murphy and Susie (Ray Robson). Affectionately know as "muma" to grandchildren Cameron, John, Loree, Lisa, Jennie, Rusty, Jay, Kathy, Tara and Kyle. As well as 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Pre deceased by husband Gordon L and son Gordon H, sisters, Madeleine, Gertrude MacDonald, Catherine Morris, Theresa Conrad, brothers Eddie, Harry, Leo and Gerald. And of course her favorite grand dog Diesel! Being the oldest of eleven children, mum was always the person that was there to support her siblings and offer guidance and advice at an early age, a trait that was carried forward throughout her life and passed on to all of us. She met the love of her life Gordon, married in 1941, and dad built their home in Whites Lake, where they lived happily until our father's passing in 1986. She continued to live in her own home until the age of 100! Always putting the wellbeing of others first, she gave an aura of kindness, caring and love for all that surrounded her. To know her was to love her. Even in her late struggle with dementia, you could sense that same loving person was still in there. And the stories she could tell. Right to the end, she could recount events that happened eighty or ninety years ago growing up in Halifax. Living next to a golf course, she always recounted the story of hitting a horse with a golf ball. It promptly took chase, resulting in Mum running home (just last week she told me she didn't know she could run that fast) to her mother claiming a horse was chasing her. Her mother passed this off as foolishness until she opened the front door, and promptly slammed it shut upon seeing a large horse standing at her front door! Thank you Mum for all the years of dedication, love and sacrifices you made to make us who we are today. For all the good advice and positive encouragement you offered. To all those you touched over the course of your life. You will live in our memories forever. Gone but never forgotten. We would also like to offer special thanks to the staff at Parkstone Halifax, for their quality care and support. Visitation will be held on Monday November 8, 7-9 p.m in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Service will be at St Timothy's Church , Hatchet Lake at 11am Tuesday November 9. Burial to follow at St Timothy's Cemetery in Prospect.
