  • Obituary: Elizabeth Catherine "Liz" (MacDonald) Buckler – 90, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Pictou, she was a daughter of the late Austin and Margaret (Getson) MacDonald. Elizabeth liked to play cards, loved family get-togethers, knitting, gardening and plants. Family was her pride and joy and she was always so proud of everyone. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Billy (Louise) Buckler, Truro; Arlene Buckler, Walford, Ontario; Brenda McCabe, Truro; Dave (Tanya) Buckler, Berwick; Lorelie (Tony) Totten, North River; Marilyn Chaplin, Bible Hill; grandchildren, Scott, John, Robyn, Josh, Kyle, Jessie, Holly, Sharon, Steven, Vanessa, Logan, Kayleigh; great grandchildren, Austin, Macy, Breanna, Danika, Chloe, Cali, Ruby, Blake, Jackson, Kaiden, Zoey, Cleo; siblings, Billy (Mary) MacDonald, Beresford, Ontario; Sarah (Gerald) Langille, New Glasgow; sisters-in-law, Shirley MacDonald, Dartmouth; Beth (Gordon) Barns, Caribou; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Irving Buckler (2000); siblings, Lawrence (Marge) MacDonald, Arthur MacDonald, Kenny (Florence) MacDonald, Mellie MacDonald, Stuartie MacDonald, Charlotte MacDonald. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Elizabeth’s family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023. Interment will be held at a later date at Blackmore Memorial Cemetery, Upper North River. If so desired, donations in Elizabeth’s memory to Colchester Food Bank are welcomed.
