A native of Plymouth, Mass., she was born Sept. 9, 1929, the daughter of the late Mattie Orff. She was retired from the Army Nurses Corps as a first lieutenant, was in the Navy and was also in World War II as part of the Women's Army Corps. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Fairview, and was a registered nurse at Western State Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar Bernard.
