  • Obituary: Brice Warren Parsley, 78, a well known resident and philosopher of Leavenworth and the Upper Wenatchee Valley, died Friday morning, September 7, 2007, at his home. He was born on October 2, 1928, at Timberlake, SD, and in 1934, the family moved to Leavenworth, where he grew up, received his education and graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1948. Brice married Marion Grace Monesmith on August 10, 1950, at Leavenworth, where they made their home. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952, where he served with the 508th Airborne Reg. Combat Team during the Korean War and following his honorable discharge in 1954, he returned to Leavenworth. Brice was then employed by the Chelan County P.U.D. #1, where he was a groundman, head groundman, apprentice lineman, lineman foreman and then local manager and superintendent for the Leavenworth Division, until his retirement on Feb. 27, 1988. On April 4, 1981, he married Linda Eileen Flathers at Leavenworth, where they made their home. Brice was a member of the Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church, Leavenworth Lions Club, Leavenworth Golf Club and the Leavenworth Senior Citizen Center. He loved fishing, golfing and all sports. He was actively involved as a coach and advisor for many years with the Little League and Majors Baseball Teams. He was the "spark plug" for many community and youth activities, the many Lions Club activities, whether the Lions Club Park or the National Ski Jump Tournaments at Bakke Hill. One of his greatest abilities and passions, was raising money through selling raffle tickets or soliciting contributions for many fund raising projects. Part of the legacy that Brice leaves all of us, is the wisdom associated with the 'Parsley Pearls', which was published weekly in the Leavenworth Echo for many years. Brice spent his last years as a permanent fixture at the Leavenworth Golf Course, Leavenworth Senior Center and fishing at Fish Lake. Brice truly loved all his family, grandchildren and the many friends in the Wenatchee Valley. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Ann Parsley of Peshastin; and a son, Michael Robert Parsley of Leavenworth; two sisters, Lois Ellyn Fullenwider of Wenatchee and Audrey Allen of Kent; four grandchildren, Amity Elizabeth Gallup, Carsen Renee Couchee', Chloe Ann Couchee' and Hilary Taylor Bertrand. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; and three brothers, Dale Parsley, Merle Parsley and Jim Parsley. A Memorial Service of Commemoration to Celebrate the Life of Brice W. Parsley, will be conducted at 2 o'clock, Thursday afternoon, September 13, 2007, in the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Roger Hudson, officiating. Interment will be in the Ivy Cemetery in Prescott, WA. Those who wish, may make a memorial in his name to the Leavenworth Senior Citizen Center, P.O. Box 1033, Leavenworth, WA 98826 or the Chelan County Humane Society, P.O. Box 55, Wenatchee, WA 98807. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
