  • Obituary: Cape Neddick - Thomas M. Devlin, born February 2, 1935, in Cambridge, Mass, passed away in the early hours of December 9, 2020, at home in Cape Neddick, Maine. As a resident of Marblehead, Mass, Tom attended MHS where he was lettered in hockey, football, and basketball. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy serving on U.S.S. Willis A-Lee DL-4. He married Joan S. Gorham of Marblehead, with whom he had two daughters, Kimberly S. Brytz of Hampton, N.H, and Julie K. Devlin of Statham, N.H. Mr. Devlin joined his father-in-law, Carl E. Gorham, in the confectionery business, and in 1982 formed his own brokerage serving all New England states. Tom is survived by his wife, Diana; and his sister, Patricia Charbonnier of N.J.; his brother John Henry Devlin III predeceased him. Besides his daughters he is survived by Elizabeth and Patti, Gregory, Jeffrey and Carlene, Joanna and Troy; two beloved nieces, Beth and Kate; four wonderful nephews; and six grandchildren, Chris, Bray, Kristen, Sarah, Tyler and Pam. Also, three great grand-daughters. In retirement, Tom watered flowers, saved bees from drowning in the bird baths and chatted up customers at York Corner Hardware. Tom loved to hear people laugh, enjoyed the ocean, wild birds and turkeys. and always had story to tell. His favorite expression was "Take the day off with pay. I authorized it." Donations in his memory may be made to: Center for Wildlife, Cape Neddick, Maine. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
