  • Obituary: Daniel was the son of William Henry Putnam & Francis Josephine Curry. He married Jessie A. Hinkley on April 16, 1907 in Spokane, WA. They had one son, Daniel Curry Putnam Jr. Jessie died in 1916. Daniel married Frances Josephine Fehr on May 26, 1921 in Yakima, WA. Daniel was a dispatcher for the Northern Pacific Railroad. In the early 1900's Dan came to Washington and stayed with his aunt & uncle, Dorothy (Curry) & Harry Beamer. He attended telegrapher's school and subsequently began working as an operator for the Northern Pacific RR in Fishtrap, WA. Jessie Hinkley lived next door to the Beamer family and shortly after Dan started his job, they were married. By 1910, they were living in Pasco, WA. The census shows he was a dispatcher for the RR. In World War I, Dan was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Russian Railway Service Corps for about two years. He enlisted at St. Paul, MN in 1917. He was one of 28 employees of the Northern Pacific who were part of this new regiment organized to operate Russian railroads.
