  • Obituary: Bent, Harold Ronald, 93, of Belleisle, Annapolis Co. passed away January 6, 2013 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Belleisle he was a son of the late Harold Watson and Laura Bradshaw (Phinney) Bent. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. His early life was spent on the family farm with is father where they operated a saw mill and took pride in their orchards. During the construction of the Annapolis Causeway he was employed by T.C. Gorman. From there he worked at United Elastic and Britex retiring after 26 years to devote time to his orchards again. Ronald was a member of the Nova Scotia Farmers Association and the Annapolis Valley Fruit Growers Association. He also drove school bus and always maintained a strong work ethic throughout his career. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Nina Beatrice Wade to whom he was married for 65 years, his two brothers, Harris and Gerry; daughter-in-law, Connie Leslie-Bent; son-in-law, Ian Alexander MacLaren (Sandy). He is survived by his children, Marilyn (Noel) Durling of Centrelea; Harris "Dick" (Joan) Bent of Marriotts Cove; Dianne Eaton (Karl) of Belleisle; Gail Wrenn of Greenwood; Caryl MacLaren of Harmony; Bradley Bent of Lequille, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. No visitation by family request. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday January 11, 2013 from St. James Anglican Church, Bridgetown with Rev. Joel Hardy officiating. Private family interment will be in St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery, Belleisle. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bridgetown.
