Mr. P. some twenty year ago, was baptized and united with the Baptist Church at Wilmot, where he then resided. In after years he removed to Granville Mountain. For several years he was the subject of much bodily suffering. On the 25th of August, 1854, in the 76th year of his age, his happy spirit escaped to its eternal rest. Bro. Phinny's was a life of faith upon the son of God; and his example worthy of imitation. During his last illness, like the Apostle he desired to depart, and to be with Christ. Three of his children had gone before him'97the surviving nine'97(for he was the father of twelve) have sustained a great loss. His aged companion still survived, and with her bereaved children are comforted under the consideration that their loss is his eternal gain. The occasion of his death was improved by a sermon on Lord's day, Aug. 27, by the writer '96 from Numbers xxiii.10. '96 Com[municated] by Rev. R.S. Morton.
