  • Obituary: CAVENDISH, Delia Hannah "Peggy" January 4, 1931 - May 27, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Delia Hannah (Peggy) Cavendish in her 87th year. Born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Peggy was the eldest daughter of the late Harold and Emma (Delorey) O'Neil, and beloved sister of Mary (Ray) Hendsbee, Dora Proulx, Rolland (Geneva) O'Neil, the late Harold O'Neil Jr. and late Eva (Lauchie) Horton. Peggy was a loving mom to Judy Langille (Glenn), Joan Harrison, Janice Langille and Jim (Kim) Langille. She was the proud grandmother of Stephanie (Andrew), Samantha and Sarina Harrison, Kayley, Jennifer and Emily Langille, James and Jeremy Sayer and Jacqueline Hymers, and proud great-grandmother of Aubrii Harrison. She was cherished by her late husband, Bob Cavendish, with whom she shared over 30 years of happiness living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Peggy will be remembered by all her extended family for her unconditional love and unwavering support. Admired for her strength and ingenuity, she was a role-model for all who knew her. Involved in her children's many activities, Peggy was a member of the Home and School Committee and an avid Brownie and Girl Guide leader, among other things. An elegant woman with many interests, she was accomplished in her work and especially enjoyed her years at Sears Canada. Favourite hobbies included oil painting, eucre, home decorating, sewing and baking. She loved to entertain and have friends and family around her. Her assortment of baked squares was greatly enjoyed at many family gatherings and other events. Proud of her independence, in her final years she maintained her own apartment at Sunrise Seniors Place in Oshawa. Peggy will be interred at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Halifax on Saturday, July 28th at 11:00 a.m. Following this, starting at 12 noon, a Celebration of Life will take place at the Golden Age Club, 212 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, if wished, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada.
