  • Obituary: One of Bear River's oldest and most highly respected citizens, Edmund Wade passed away on Friday last, Feb 26th, aged 79. The deceased was a native of Belleisle where he still has a brother, Willett Wade, living. He came to Bear River over half a century ago, and built up a fine business as a carriage builder acquiring a wide reputation for excellence of work. Shortly after coming to the town he married Miss Eleanor Douglas of Port George, who survives him with 2 sons, WW Wade, well known merchant of this town, and Bernard Wade, who has in recent years carried on his father's business. Besides the brother mentioned above he also leaves a brother WA Wade living at Calais, Maine and 2 sisters: Mrs Zebulon Blakesley of Malden, Mass., and Mrs Busby Gates of Middleton. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the funeral on Sunday afternoon was conducted by Reverend JE Donkin. Bear River Telephone Bear River,NS March 4,1904
