Jestings Jr., of 80 Renrew Avenue, Middletown, RI, beloved husband of Georgette Bolant Jestings, died Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the Grand Islander. He was the son of the late Charles Stewart Jestings and Christie Dreher Jestings. Born May 5, 1927 in New Bedford, MA, he had lived most of his life in Middletown and Newport. He was a retired federal civil servant having worked over thirty years at the Naval Torpedo Station, the Naval Air Rework Facility, Quonset, Point, RI and the Army Arsenal, Watervliet, NY. He was a graduate of Rogers High School '45 and the Apprentice School, Quonset Point '58. He served in the U.S. Army in 1945, 46, and 47 and later in the Rhode Island National Guard retiring as Master Sergeant. He had belonged to the American Legion, the Methodist Men, the National Rifle Association, Common Cause, Public Citizen and the Once-A-Month Society. For several years he was treasurer for the Newport Cooperative Enterprises. Beside his wife of 58 years, he is survived by daughter Annette G. Bryant of Newport, a son Charles S. Jestings III and his wife Kimberly of Meredith, New Hampshire; two brothers, Donald P. Jestings Sr. of Portsmouth, RI, and Walter J. Jestings of Gainsville, Georgia; and a granddaughter Courtney C. Jestings of Meredith , NH; a sister-in-law Michele Wurtzs from France; and many nieces and nephews. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, March 4, 2006, at 11 a.m. in Calvary United Methodist Church, 200 Turner Road, Middletown, RI. Memorial donations, in Mr. Jestings name, may be sent to the Middletown Rescue Wagon Fund, 239 Wyatt Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
