Notes

  • Obituary: Daniel "Dan" John Kvitek, 67, died December 26, 2013. Daniel was born September 4, 1946, to Edmond and Margaret (Lucas) Kvitek in Lowry. He graduated from Glenwood Public School in 1964 and immediately went to work for GTA in Lowry. In 1965, he was married to Delores Logan and to this union four children were born: Kimberly, Tammy, David and Angel. In 1979, Daniel married Mary Larson of Starbuck and to this marriage, Kristi and Bryan were born. Daniel loved anything to do with farming. He worked for GTA/Cenex Harvest States for almost 49 years, just short of his goal of working for the company for 50 years. Visiting with the farmers was a highlight of each day. Dan was involved with the Lowry Fire Department, recently retiring after 35 years. Christmas time was special for Dan (aka Santa Claus). Many of the areas children gave our special "Santa" their secret wishes for Christmas. Dan had a passion for any outdoor work, especially his lawn. No weed dared to show its face on his lawn. Dan also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Traveling to new countries and seeing their cultures and outdoor beauty had recently become new adventures for Dan and Mary. Dans loved ones who have gone before him are his parents; his brother, Edmond Kvitek Jr.; daughter, Tammy; and son, David. Daniel is survived by a loving family whom he loved with all his heart: his wife, Mary; daughter, Kristi Lynn (Jason) Saffert and their children, Isaac, Jackson and Liliana, of Lowry; son, Bryan Kvitek of Littleton, Colorado; daughter, Kimberly (Marty) Parker and their children, Jesse (Codie) Parker and their son, Chance; and Kiel Parker; daughter, Angel Kvitek; his sister, Rosey Erlandson, and her children, Todd (children, Tate and Tessa) and Kelly. Memorial services were held Monday, December 30 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Olson, Terry Piekarski, Jerry Maus, Donovan Trousil, and the Lowry Fire Department. Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria
