  • Obituary: Wilson, Gerald David – 75, North River (Truro), passed away peacefully after a brief illness, March 22, 2013 in the Palliative Care Unit of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Tatamagouche, he was the son of the late Robert and Ethel (Langille) Wilson. Gerald had been an electrician for 42 years, running his own business, G.D. Wilson Electric Limited for many years in Truro and surrounding areas. In early years, Gerald had a great love of sports, playing hockey, basketball and fastball. He was a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays fan through all his years. Gerald enjoyed his morning breakfasts with friends at "Deluxe", loved hunting and fishing, took great pride in his garden, and loved spending time with his grandkids. His kind and gentle nature will be sadly missed by family and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, John and Robert. He is survived by son, David (Robyn), Chance Harbour; daughter, Jo-Anne (David) Phelan, Bedford; grandchildren, Zachary Wilson, Nate Wilson, Benjamin Phelan and Emma Phelan; his children's mother, Diane Robertson (nee Reid); sisters-in-law, Judy Wilson, Edmonton; Elizabeth Wilson, Tatamagouche; nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2013 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Denmark. All are welcome to attend. Many thanks to Dr. Gerry Farrell and staff of Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion during Gerald's stay. Donations in Gerald's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit or a charity of one's choice.
