Notes

  • Obituary: Gordon Wayne Langille (b. April 12, 1961), age 57, passed away Wednesday, April 18th, 2018 in New Glasgow in the Aberdeen Hospital's Palliative Care Unit. Wayne will be missed by many: his wife of 28 years Donna MacKenzie; step-children, Jason MacKenzie and Tara (Chuck) Kontuk; granddaughters Mya and Chloe Kontuk; and siblings Vicki (Jim) Jewer Chester and Dwight Earnest Langille of Pictou. Wayne is pre-deceased by both of his parents, Gordon Dunn and Joan (Weatherbie) Langille. Wayne fished the Northumberland Strait from the time he was 15-years-old aboard his father's boat and loved being on the water. Outside of his work, he had a passion for vintage cars and trucks; he could often be found tinkering with motors and various projects in his garage. As an avid hunter, Wayne enjoyed spending time in nature, gearing up his tree stand and setting up trail cameras to record local wildlife in the fall. Wayne also enjoyed taking a trucking course toward the end of his life, in aspirations to experience a new career. Fighting a courageous battle for seven years, Wayne always maintained his philosophy of living a positive life regardless of circumstance. His attitude impressed his doctors, caregivers, and those closest to him. Until the very end, Wayne always made sure those he was leaving behind were taken care of. He enjoyed visits from life long friends, Randy Mansour and Randy Sullivan. Reminiscing on their many past adventures meant the world to him. Cremation has taken place, and as per Wayne's request no service will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the palliative care unit of the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow. Donna would like to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for Wayne for their continued care and compassion throughout the past seven years of his life, with special regards to Doctor S. Taylor, Wayne's surgeon, and Janice Cooper, Wayne's speech pathologist. "Why live a negative life? Why would you do that to yourself? Live positive."
