  • Obituary: Danny James McCormick (May 8, 1957 - July 2, 2010) McCormick, Danny James - 53, Halifax, N.S. passed away suddenly on Friday, July 2, 2010, in Halifax. Born in Tatamagouche, he was a son of J. William and Maxine A. (Langille) McCormick, Malagash. Danny graduated from St. Mary's University with a degree in English Literature. For 17 years he worked at Russell Metals, where he built his reputation as a salesman in the industrial steel industry. Later in his career Danny worked at Pipe and Piling in Hammonds Plains where he was recently promoted to sales manager. Danny was successful in his career but was most passionate about his friends and family. A committed father, husband, son, brother and friend. Danny was up for any kind of adventure that allowed him to spend time with the people he loved. He played men's hockey with old friends from PDHS, he coached his daughters soccer team and took his family on great camping trips. He loved spending his weekends at his cottage on the Gulf Shore where he passed the time swimming, kayaking and riding his scooter on the beach. Danny had a flair for the literary and the dramatic. For a couple of years he took acting lessons and volunteered at the Theatre Arts Guild. Friends will remember him as an excellent conversationalist and a wordsmith who spent countless late nights telling vivid stories and passionately discussing politics, music, film and philosophy. Everyone will miss him. Besides his parents he is survived by his companion, Andrea (McKenzie) Langille; daughter, Crystal McCormick, Halifax; sisters, Lisa (Andrew) Campagne, Halifax; Tracy (John) Bailie, Tatamagouche; aunts, Jeanette (Angus "Murdoch") Murray, Wentworth and Mona Langille, Tatamagouche; several nieces and cousins; wife, Dawn; his buddy, Rusty.
