It is with great sadness that the family of Valerie Jeanne (Rushton) Allen, age 50, of Oxford and Pugwash, announces her passing on Sunday, December 31, 2017 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Valerie worked for many years at Seagull Pewter and later at Tim Horton Children's Camp until her passing. She had an incredible work ethic. Valerie had a kind heart, was full of fun and laughter and could light up any room she entered. She enjoyed music and the country hoedown, especially with her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, auctions, yard sales and the outdoors. She is survived by her parents, Allan and Rouie (Johnson) Rushton; husband, Stanley; son, Colby; brothers, Dennis (Debbie), Larry (Susan), Bruce, Adair (Ann); sister, Gail Maddison (Stephen); numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tim Horton Children's Camp or charity of your choice. There will be a celebration of Valerie's life from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, January 6, with a service of remembrance at 3:30 p.m., in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (902-447-2930).
