  • Obituary: Theodore "Ted" Ramsay Munro '96 88, Truro. Born September 13th, 1925, Ted passed away peacefully with his family at his side on February 23rd, 2014 at the Veterans Memorial Building in Halifax. Born and raised in Pictou County, Ted was a son to the late Henry and Mary Munro of New Glasgow. He was predeceased in 2006 by his wife of 56 years, Jean Frances (Dunbar) Munro, son Kenney Munro (2014), infant daughter Jane, and brothers Robert, Lloyd, Harry, Don and Charles. Ted is survived by his sister Matilda (Richard) McQuin, brother James (Carol) Munro, daughter Margie (Ross) Douglas, Truro, son Ted (Sandra) Munro, Truro, grandchildren Erika, Jeff (Khristina) and Marla Douglas, Devin and Nicole Munro, Kennie Munro, and great-grandchildren Cayden and Cason Douglas, and Mason Munro. He was a proud father and grandfather and very much enjoyed visits from his first great-grandchild Cayden, who lived only two doors down. Ted served in the Second World War as a Sergeant in the RCAF. After his marriage to Jean in 1950, he accepted a job with the CNR where he worked until his retirement. Ted had a love for fishing, hunting, and gardening. He spent a lot of time in his younger years at the camp on Chisholm's Lake with his brothers fishing. He enjoyed playing cards and his well-thought out hands usually made him the winner. During his later years, he spent most of his time tinkering around the yard, tending to his vegetable and flower gardens, and enjoyed visits from his grown children and grandchildren. He was very much a part of their lives and will be missed by all. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th from 6 '96 8 p.m. with a memorial service on Friday, February 28th at 2 p.m., both at the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada or to a charity of your choice. A special thank-you to the staff on the 4 Westwood Wing at the Veteran's Memorial Building who cared for Ted during his last year. Live webcasting of the memorial service will begin at 1:58 p.m. (Atlantic Time) and is available along with on-line condolences at: www.ColchesterCommunity.com
