  • Obituary: LANGILLE, Arnold Franklin "Arnie" Of Dartmouth, went home to be with his Lord on December 8, 2009, in the QEII, Halifax from a short illness. Born in Wallace, he was the son of the late Raymond and Nellie (Vaughn) Langille. He grew up with a love for ice hockey, softball, flying aircraft, visual art, boating, music and His Lord. He went on to study for Christian ministry at New Brunswick Baptist Institute (Woodstock, N.B.), Atlantic Baptist College (Moncton, N.B.) and Bob Jones University (Greenville, S.C.). He entered into the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada and served as a Pastor in East and West Jeddore. After his ministry he began a new career in sales and marketing with Philco-Ford and Westclock clocks. He taught the Sales and Marketing Class in the Nova Scotia Community College system. He continued working as an advertising rep for Auto Atlantic Magazine. He pursued many interests, as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party, The Dartmouth Yacht Club and the Dartmouth Men's Choir. He loved coaching and mentoring young people above all else, from building backyard football fields and ice rinks for neighbourhood children to serving as a minor hockey coach with Woodlawn Minor Hockey teams in the 70's and 80's. He was also an active referee into his 60's and softball umpire into his 70's. He loved to garden and care for pets, from cats and dogs to wild birds. He will perhaps be remembered for his ability to talk to anyone, his big heart and open house, welcoming youth groups, teams, friends and extended family for conversation and friendship up until his final illness. He has left a legacy of faith, love and friendship. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley (Caswell) Langille; son, David Arnold (Diane), Minneapolis, Minn.; daughter, Shelley Kleemann (Hans), Comox, B.C.; grandchildren Sam, Luc, Laura and Krista. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marie and baby daughter Pamela. Body has been cremated under the care of Donald K. Walker Funeral Directors Ltd. (469-5601). The service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 18, in Evangel Pentecostal Church, 1412 Cole Harbour Rd., Dartmouth with Rev. Dick Bieber officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be in the summer. A charitable contribution to World Vision and/or Hope for Wildlife Society www.hopeforwildlife .com would be greatly appreciated.
