  • Obituary: Son of Guy C. and Nellie Wright Phinney, after whom Phinney Avenue and Phinney Ridge were named. His father sold property of what would become Woodland Park Zoo to the City of Seattle. He attended Sanford University from 1906 to 1909 and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. Mr. Phinney was a retired real-estate dealer. He was a partner in the firm of Jones & Phinney which platted, developed and sold the Mount Baker Park, Carlton Park and other Seattle residential subdivisions. Mr. Phinney married the former Daisy E,. Perkins of Portland, OR, May 2, 1913. He was an Episcopalian and a member of the Republican Party. An ardent sportsman, Mr. Phinney's chief recreations were fishing, duck hunting and gardening. Survived by his wife Daisy, an aunt, Mrs. L. H. Griffith, Alameda, Calif.
