Notes

  • Occupation: Ship Captain
  • Death: Drowned
  • Obituary: Bridgewater Bulletin September 15, 1896. The body of Captain Archibald Evans who was drowned in the Bay on the 13th. of May last, was found on Monday, the 7th. inst. on the shore of Heisler's Island. It is thought by many that the heavy thunder on Sunday night caused the body to float and it then floated ashore. The body was considerably mutilated and when viewed by the coroner's jury was placed in a casket and taken to the Masonic Hall. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon and was largely attended, a number of Free Masons from the neighbouring towns being present and taking part in the ceremony, Captain Evans being buried with the usual Masonic rites.
