  • Obituary: Following a short courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully at Grand River (Freeport Site) Hospital on Thursday, May 15, 2014 in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Patricia A. Ritchie-Hutchison and loving "Hutch" to her sons and their wives, Jason and Diana, Jeremy and Cindy and Jamie. Special "Grampy" to Taylor, Brooke, Nathan, Joshua and Hannah. Remembered with love by his daughters Kellie, Vickie, Julie, and Jill as well as their mother Donna Reid and grandchildren Reid, Dylan, Trish, Suzanne, Sidney, Spencer, Whitney, Taylor, Kaitlyn and Lucas. Lovingly remembered by great-grandchildren Michael and John and loving sister and brother -in-law, Jan and Charles Klager, brother-in-law Brian (Wendy) Hollywood as well as Alex and Marie, Sue and Peter, Pat and Richard who will continue to mourn his passing. Also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Glenn was born in Toronto, but spent his most of his years in Preston where he served the City of Cambridge for 35 years. His love for music led him to be lifetime member of the Preston Scout House Band and to contribute to the Knox Choir during the last few years. His passion for sports was evident, refereeing and coaching hockey and baseball for many years. Predeceased by his parents Bernice Ellen Hutchison and his father Ernest James Hutchison, his sister Kathy (Polio Syndrome) and grandson-in-law, John. Glenn's late wife Marjorie is also remembered with love at this time. Much appreciation to family and friends and the Scout House Band members for their support and special thanks to Dr. Swartz and Freeport Union Terrace staff for grateful direction along this difficult journey. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge on Friday, May 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Knox Presbyterian, 132 Argyle St. North, Cambridge on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Cremation has taken place. If desired, donations to Knox Preston Presbyterian Church or The Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
